1. Perfect your profile
The number one thing you can do to kickstart your success? Build a profile that shows off what you and your business are all about. After all, your profile is the first place other members will go to learn about you and your business and connect with you. So make it count.
Infuse it with personality, add photos, and tell your unique story—who you are, how you got started, and what you’re looking for.

After you have a profile you’re proud of, be sure to select the category that best represents your business and the tags that describe what services you provide and what types of customers you want to work with.
2. Reach out, refer, and recommend
Now it’s time to build relationships with other business owners just like you. Those relationships can lead to partnerships, referrals, and new business.
To get started, take a look at the people you already know, as they’re most likely to refer you to other business owners you might want to meet.
There are a few easy ways to find businesses to connect with.
- Connect your address book to find members you know and invite your network to the platform.
- The MyNetwork page will then show them to you and suggest others you might want to meet.
Once you connect with your current network, share authentic, written recommendations of people you’ve had good experiences with. And as you connect with new people, send personalized messages to them and set up time to meet with them one-on-one.
Both making connections and writing recommendations are great ways to build credibility and expand your reach, opening you up for more referrals.
3. Join a group
Now that you’re into the swing of things, it’s time to find people who share your interests, industry, or identity by joining a group. Groups give you a place to ask and answer questions, share trusted advice, and build community—all while expanding your network.
